A Note To Paul Hinman

Dear Paul:

You think YOU'RE frustrated at the state of democracy?

Talk to the people in Airdrie and Fish Creek who thought they voted for a PC MLA.

That is all.

Highlight of my day, Joey! Thanks for the giggle.

Psst. Joey,
Uh.. I am on the board in Airdrie Chestermere and the support even from the old PC board is tremendous, with a majority of them coming over as well. Just sayin ;)

Um, Joey. I don't know what AA is smokin' up there in AC, but he's clearly not in touch with reality. Less than half the PC Board left, and a lot of those were Rob's family. I especially love this little piece of art work on the outskirts of Airdrie.

AA: I've heard. Repeatedly. Also the case in Fish Creek. A lot of people who sit on constituency boards are there because of the candidate or the MLA, and not so much because of the party. When that person moves on, so do they.

But, regardless of how the A-C PC Board feels about Rob's move, 9,372 people marked an "x" next to "Rob Anderson (PC)" in March 2008. You and I and most of my regular readers know that those people in fact cast ballots for "Rob Anderson", and not for "PC" at all... but I'd still wager that a few of those nearly 10,000 voters are probably a LITTLE ticked at their current representation.

Not to put too fine a point on it - but their opinions mean a lot more to me than the opinions of a few dozen of Rob's personal friends, family members and supporters.

All the opinions matter to me, but lets face it, it would not matter how the cross was done, either by-election or as is- if the outcome was the same these PC supporters would still be pissed. Mind you I have to say at least it would be democratically pissed. It's a tough one.

Anon 10:17- Smoking the weed from my days with the Marijuana party. Check your numbers on the executive board, you make want to smoke as well :)

I support Danielle Smith and the Wildrose Alliance only because they want to leagalize all drugs. Except for that I'd vote for the Marijuana Party.

"who thought they voted for a PC MLA."

But they didn't, they voted for an MLA who happened to be PC at the time.

My frustration with the state of democracy is that so many people think they're SUPPOSED to vote for party over person, and then we end up with lowered quality because candidates can ride the party coattails.
