Don't have much of a military tradition in my family, but I very much appreciate the role that these men and women play. They certainly are under-appreciated.<BR/><BR/>And the bar that they must meet continues to rise. In addition to combat efficacy, these days they must also do the part of emergency rescue (e.g. Lebanon) and even social work (Afghanistan).<BR/><BR/>I've never walked up to a military man/woman and said something congratulatory for risk of feeling awkward. Maybe I should make a point of it... and not just on rememberance day.<BR/><BR/>On another subject, hope you continue to post on your blog. It is one of the few I read now. I find it generally even-handed, which is a quality that is decidedly scarce in the blogosphere. All too many politically-oriented bloggers in my mind, downplay or criticize unceasingly goverments lead by parties they dislike, while doing the opposite for those they favour. I am a little perplexed at the lack of comments on your posts though. Not sure why this is the case, since there is meat in a lot of them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
