By doing this you either increase the geographic size (potentially massively) of rural districts served by individual MLA&amp;#39;s, or you increase the under-representation of people in urban districts. We often fall for the &amp;quot;less politicians is better&amp;quot; idea but when you increase the number of constituents served per MLA, you necessarily decrease their ability to represent those constituents. How do you propose to deal with these issues?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Furthermore, I have a hard time seeing how cutting some MLA&amp;#39;s will offset the cost of paying for a slightly smaller number of senators, who will require staff and resources just like MLA&amp;#39;s, as well as the construction and maintenance of a place for those senators. Have you costed this idea?</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6929537540404873123/590219200751564832/comments/default/6044175672578383619'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6929537540404873123/590219200751564832/comments/default/6044175672578383619'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.enlightenedsavage.com/2012/01/fish-creek-thinks-big-on-democratic.html?showComment=1326919783762#c6044175672578383619' title=''/><author><name>Mark Horejsi</name><uri>http://markonpoli.blogspot.com/</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img1.blogblog.com/img/blank.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.enlightenedsavage.com/2012/01/fish-creek-thinks-big-on-democratic.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6929537540404873123.post-590219200751564832' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/6929537540404873123/posts/default/590219200751564832' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-696917450'/></entry></feed>
