You write very well but have mis-represented the #wrp, highlighting some mild partisanship. Most folks were disappointed not so much in the floor crossing but in Mr. Taylor's blatant about-face on his promise about a by-election. I'm happy for the #abparty as we all know good opposition makes for good government. More voices make for more balanced policy for all.Rick Newcombehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04681599600511513298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6929537540404873123.post-65387148486008646642011-01-25T09:34:56.704-07:002011-01-25T09:34:56.704-07:00I can only think of one elected official who ever ...I can only think of one elected official who ever resigned to run in a by-election before crossing the floor to another party.

Current Saskatchewan NDP MLA Buckly Belanger resigned to run in a by-election after leaving the Saskatchewan Liberal Party to join the NDP in 1998. He works for whomever will pay, and he does a hell of a job. He may be the Claude Lemieux of Albertan politics, but the thing that was always said of Lemieux, and is still said of Carter, is that "you hate his guts when you see him on the other side, but you desperately want him on your team, because all he does is WIN".

A party with the potential image issues that the Wildrose may have to deal with in next Spring's election needs a guy like Carter - so they went and got him.
